The local clinical commissioning group is working on plans to introduce a Crisis Café service for North Somerset, based in Weston-super-Mare. This service is intended to provide support and a safe place for those experiencing a mental health crisis, during ‘out-of-hours’ times such as evenings including weekend evenings. This would be something valuable to North Somerset, particularly due to limited mental health support available in the area and the fact that the local A&E department is closed during out-of-hours times.
Who Are We?
Clarity-NSIMHN is the North Somerset branch of the Independent Mental Health Network (IMHN). Clarity-NSIMHN is a group of people with lived experience of mental health who work with local agencies and other organisations to ensure that those who are affected by mental health issues are listened to in striving to make changes for the better. Clarity-NSIMHN will be running a workshop on the topic of the Crisis Café service, to ensure that the voice of service users, and those with lived experience of mental health, will be heard in the development of the service.
What Will the Workshop Involve?
We are inviting those from the broader service user / lived experience community who would be interested in feeding into the process of designing the service to come along to this workshop; to discuss, share ideas, assess, analyse, and contribute to the design for the service, and the draft ideas that has so far been developed. It will be co-produced with members of the clinical commissioning group for this area, BNSSG CCG.
Clarity-NSIMHN is able to cover reasonable travel expenses incurred in attending the session – taxis requests require advance approval with sufficient (approximately one week) advance notice and are not necessarily agreed.
Additionally, we are able to offer a £25 gift voucher as a thank you for your time and contributions in the session.
